If the assist gyro is suffering from this type of interference, then it doesn’t belong on a jet. I have 3 assists and they are on non turbine airplanes. And I have also heard this rumor. And why it’s so important to have an “off” setting if one is going to try to use one on a turbine.
And sorry to disagree with the gents above, but the risk of a gyro coming loose is too great to not strap it down. It may not have to be tight, but an extra layer of protection NEVER hurts.
Pretty much every jet is more expensive than a 3D heli, the helo’s have nice and clean carbon fiber to stick to and the helos just don’t go as fast as jets.
Edit: In all fairness, I doubt any airframe gets more "G" abuse than those 3D helis. The stuff those pilots can do are amazing!
