When I first installed the G23 in my Extra it was dead stock at 3lbs.2 ozs, required approx. 9 ozs of ballast in the rear to achieve a respectable CG and gave the model an AUW of 11.5 lbs. Even at this weight the model flew quite well but did not have the performance I wanted. Having the engine converted to CDI reduced its weight by approx. a pound and locating both ignition and Rx batteries at the rear made removing the ballast weight possible. The model's AUW is now 9lbs.12 ozs, has unlimited verticals and is a dream to fly.
