I have cut several sig cowls to fit around dummy engines, here are some pictures to maybe give some ideas.

dummy engine from Top Notch Product Company, Aluminum eyebrows help duct air into cowl. balsa block on bottom of fuselage is relived to provide air exhaust

Hold down clips are made from rc car body clips and 440 rigging couplers. (idea from Cub Den site)
