Default engine storage

John;
Are you talking about storing the Engine on the Aircraft? What kind of time are you talking when you say storing?

Nose up on any engine the castor/synthetic oil will pool at the rear of the crankcase not on the bearings. Adding a few drops of Marvel Mystery Air Tool Oil or ATF for car transmissions will lubricate and maintain the engine in good shape. I usually will take the plug out and use an Electric start and run the oil through the engine as to lubricate it completely.

If the engine is to be stored for a long period of time I do this.
I get out my Crock pot for engines only! Never cook in it again!. Get some prestone Anti-freeze not the bio-degradeable type. and cook the engine on low for about 8 hrs. Then I take the engine out and lightly use a brush to remove any more residue. I then rinse it completely out and then add Marvel Mystery Air tool oil to it, and double bag it and put it away till I need it. Engine looks like new every time .
