The 8 and 10 channel receivers are what I am using. I have used the shorter antenna with success, but the range would be reduced.

I have used the tiny 4-channel park flyer receiver for years with no issues. I have had the tiny plane about 100 yards away and no loss of signal. The plane was a speck at that distance.
