Looks a bit steep for upscaled 50 year old kit research with parts bin electronics and mechanicals?
The DMD 11 is actually quite good and rather new having just been used in their last release the M551. Also the gearboxes they chose to use (same as the M551) are rather durable and the smoothest quietest running of all the metal Tamiya gearboxes.

Tamiya is doing nothing with common parts that they haven’t done for years with their older tanks. It’s smart business to design parts that can be used in many platforms.

I for one am very please they chose to use the “M551” DMD11 and gearboxes because they both work great. Far better choice then using the Abrams/Type10 electronics and gearboxes and worlds better then the old DMD/MFU systems used in their more recent WW2 tanks.

If you don’t like the new “stuff” then swap in what you think is better. But don’t try a degrade/devalue it as simply “parts bin” until you have tried it. Tamiya has a pretty good track record of putting out solidly engineered products as of recent, well except for the M551 tracks....LoL
