I for one am very please they chose to use the “M551” DMD11 and gearboxes because they both work great. Far better choice then using the Abrams/Type10 electronics and gearboxes and worlds better then the old DMD/MFU systems used in their more recent WW2 tanks.

If you don’t like the new “stuff” then swap in what you think is better. But don’t try a degrade/devalue it as simply “parts bin” until you have tried it. Tamiya has a pretty good track record of putting out solidly engineered products as of recent, well except for the M551 tracks....LoL
DKLM had mentioned in a Facebook comment some concern about tracks being similar in construction to King Tiger, but I think it’s actually more similar to Panther, which, while not as durable as Abrams and Leopard tracks with the metal end links, aren’t as weak as King Tiger tracks either. Perhaps he’s already thinking of manufacturing aftermarket tracks ……
