It is a way to determine your valid membership. Even if you change your number we can see that you have renewed for another year.
Being a member gives you more credibility when you criticize the organization.
Knowing the name of the club where you are no longer a member would only have value if you were critical of the club.
Verification is worth a great deal if you are trying to hide something.
