Bob, generally speaking, jets like this one and the very similar Sebart Mini Avanti do not benefit from a rear mounted turbine because of the relatively long tail. A modern light weight pipe can increase thrust if designed properly, plus mounting the turbine in the tail would not be easy. In the end, it's all about moment arms and working out the best solution.
