Cannot comment on the business side of things, and basically I am also guessing on the technical side of it, but it is entirely possible that the designer that worked for GO engines, took his design with him and now works for SH. Or the other way around, the guy that worked for GO back then, originally came from SH. No way of telling unless someone has access to personell files.
Something similar happened when an OS designer started working for Sanye.
I hear you on the "other place thing", but lets keep that out of here...
