Untrue. CR has fairly little to do with it.
It has all to do with the amount of fuel that can be burned in a given amount of air. By weight, gasoline contains about twice the energy compared to Methanol, but in a given amount of air, you can burn about 2,5 times more methanol. And since 2,5 x 0,5 is 1,25, you get about 25% more power from methanol (provided the jetting is corrected for the fuel), because you can burn 2,5 times "half the energy of gasoline".
CR does not have much to do with that,
Increasing CR does increase Thermal efficiency, which allows for an even better performance, but the gain is there allready without increasing CR.
