I take the FAA’s statement on the 3 month extension as a way out for them. They told the hobby what they wanted and the hobby responded with inaction. I consider this inaction a display of intent not to comply. The manufacturers realize the damage this will create and thus loss of sales. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run. The FAA has zero jurisdiction to force the manufacturers to produce anything. Of course this only deals with the traditional set. I have no doubt that DJI is compliant as they truly fit in the general public’s definition of drone. It also allows them to continue their information gathering on US citizens.
