Default Pre-cut scale copper plating (display model)

Yep, sorry, this is not an RC related question but I'd just like to tap the immense weath of knowledge floating around out there.

I am currently building a static display model of a French schooner (L'Etoile). The fittings kit contains a roll of copper sheeting from which you can cut out the copper plating for the hull protection. This is all fine and dandy, but ya know, I'm kind of lazy and would just like to find those little plates already made with the riveting.

The kit recommends 8x26cm which would mean I would have to fashion more than 500 of the little buggers to cover the hull! Yeah right. I've found various suppliers (here in France) but most only have the smaller sizes (7x18cm, 8x18cm) and all at crazy prices!

I checked TowerHobbies but they don't have anything.

Could any of you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
