You could buy one from the UK or Oz and use it, but:
1. It will come factory Mode 1 set up. Most US flyers fly mode 2
2. You can swap the 35 / 36 Mhz Module for a 72 Mhz module
3. The Tx "wall wart" charger will be useless as household electricty is 240~250 volts (US 110 volts) with a different plug pin configuration
4. The Rx will be useless to you - wrong frequency
5. Horizon won't want to know you if you have a "warranty" issue with the set
6. Customs duty?
7. Radio's in the UK and Oz cost lots more than they do in the US so there is no benefit there!
