RE: Plastic Naval Kits?
Try Dean's Marine kits for 1/96 scale. Expensive, but well worth the effort. If you want 1/144 scale Model Warship Combat, try Swampworks or Battlers Connections. Robbe make real nice RC boats too. Look at their PT boat or their German E-boat as well as their U-boat. I guess it all depends on what you want to build and the scale though.
