The 6X does beep periodically but if you've never heard it, its possible the beeper is bad or perhaps might be at a tone you have trouble hearing? (some people do)

Once you do the save, then slide the trimmers to center, the arrows will still show above or below on the channels where you added trim. If your sliders were centered and you pressed store again it would have no effect.
