Mark,

You certainly can do whatever you want. The .70 surpass will fly the plane fine. You will have enough power to hover and pullout, but you won't have the pullout of the Saito .91 or 100. Lots of power can get you out of a bad situation if necessary. From what I've seen, the guys with the .91/100 are perfectly happy and these motors give a real reserve of extra power. As I said before, the Saito .91 has more power and weighs less than the .70 surpass, so it's a win-win situation. You just have to learn throttle management. Really the only time you need full throttle in any situation is when pulling out of a hover, or doing uplines. The UCD isn't designed for speed.

As far as price - if I remember correctly, the OS .70 surpass is 299.00 at Tower's website. My tower catalog got soaked in the rain, so I THINK that that might be the pumped version, which is around 50.00 more than the non-pumped. I am not sure if you can get it cheaper somewhere else or not. For comparison, the Saito .91 is around 220-240 at most LHS. I paid 229 for mine. I believe you can get it from cheif aircraft for about 215.
