RE: The GP Cap 232 is almost there
You have picked a real winner of a plane. I took a long break from RC stuff and finally decided to get into Helis. After flying helis for about a year I decided to give planes a try. Having some experience with gliders as a kid I decided my first plane should be the GP Cap. I couldn't bring myself to get a trainer and after about 4 months of building I had my OS .70 Surpass powered Cap. A few weeks on the simulator and I figured I would give the real thing a try. I took the Cap to the field, set up the motor, and let it rip. I found the plane to fly quite nice and would perform all the aerobatics I could throw at it. I never had mine tip stall but I never added too much elevator. I flew the plane without incident for about 1.5 year until the tail feather, elevator half, met its doom while I was loading it into my truck. The plane is strong but could not withstand having a tool box loaded on the elevator. Decided to retire it at that point.
Don't worry about tip stalling. Just don't add a ton of elevator when landing and you will be fine. If a first time flyer can land it you should be able to.
As for the CG, mine was right in the middle of the recommended range.
