Allison, I agree with you; but its really not bad here on RCU, compared to some of the other forums. And I heartily agree that the car forums are BY FAR the worst here. Its like Cyclic said; kids who have more testosterone than brains or manners. I have no idea why the somewhat inflexible moderation seen on the rest of this board is not applied to the car forums.

Why is that, Marc????

I have quit going to the car forums altogether... the constant bickering is one factor, but the main reason is I give myself a headache trying to decipher the 'chat-speak' those kids use.

Let me tell you a little story about censorship and communism. Its a funny story. When the "new" RCU was unveiled, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, bemoaning the good old days, etc. I was one who was NOT happy to see the change, and said so. I'm still not overwhelmed with the "new" format, but it isn't the big PITA I was afraid it was going to be. But on with our story...

There were some who were very vocal, and just couldn't let it go after saying their piece. They kept on and on, verbally attacking RCU management, then crying about censorship when some posts were edited and/or deleted. Waving the First Amendment in everyone's face (not getting the point that the First Amendment does not apply to this situation- and they probably STILL don't get it) the more radical of these folks formed their own forum, loudly proclaiming it was a free-speech environment, as opposed to "communist" RCU, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Just the other day, I saw a revival of "let's bash RCU" over there. Now, I really don't care what they do, and have no reason to defend RCU, but the guy who made the post is a newcomer to the hobby, and while I've seen him here he really hasn't been around long enough to have a grip on what's going on. Annoyed, I made a post to the effect of "Just let it go!", then proceeded to 'splain to him why his post here might not have been answered as quickly as he might have hoped for; one possible reason being that he was considered a troll.

Well, let me tell you, that thread disappeared within the hour. Amused, I started a new thread, asking about this "censorship", and wasn't that forum started on the foundation of free speech, no censorship, etc., etc??? That one got nuked in jig time as well.

What a hoot. Here we see these sanctimonious flag-wavers doing the EXACT same thing they were crying about happening here. Every time I think I've seen the limits of human absurdity, someone proves me wrong...
