A little bit taught. I usually put rubber bands in there to keep the slack. If it's too much slack you get unaccurate steering and can cause take off problems. On my Euro, I bent the nose strut and that put more slack in the line. So I'm over steering on take off, which put a lot of rudder in. On the rudder on the Euro, a lot of rudder causes roll, so very sloppy rolled takeoff. Anyway, just make it taught and you'll be alright.
