RE: Multiplex 12Ch?????
I have been using Multiplex for 6 years, the last 4 years with the 12 channel Profi 4000. Because of the programming structure that Multiplex uses I can't see me ever buying an Asian radio again unless they abandon the master-slave concept and copy the Multiplex method. I also use the Multiplex IPD rx and some Multiplex servos and I have had rock solid reliability.
Bear in mind that if you are using PCM rx at the moment they will not be compatible with any other brand of transmitter so if you change you will have to buy new rx to replace any pcm rx that you have. Also, Multiplex has abandoned PCM in favour of its IPD PPM system which gives fully programmable failsafe on all channels, or you are free to choose any other PPM rx with failsafe such as FMA, Berg etc.
There has been a number of reports from the USA of faults in new Evos, generally they manifest themselves straight away rather than some months after purchase. The Evo is not built at Multiplex's factory in Germany like the Profi radios are, but in some Chinese factory like all the other radio brands.
There are two "problems" remaining with the Evo. One is that some JR servos do not like the frequency synthesiser module, I have tried it with a JR8411 digital and it is perfectly happy but apparently certain JR servos do jitter if you use the synthesiser module. They have no problem with the crystal module. The second issue affects mainly fixed wing fliers especially for 3d flying, and that is the expo values that you set are fixed for the model, you can't switch it on or off during the flight and it is the same value across all 4 flight modes.
As a rule of thumb, the Evo is not quite as powerful for programming as the 9Z or JR10, it is not Multiplex's top radio, but it does have extremely flexible programming, the option for synthesiser, automatic checking that your frequency is clear before it starts up, whole band frequency scanner, internet download of any software upgrades, stick with button switches if you fly finger and thumb, and so on. The top Multiplex radio, the Profi 4000, is simply mind-blowing in what it can do, some people say they can't hold the odd looking "pizza-box" but we have an 11 year old in our club who holds it with no problem and I have proved it requires a smaller hand than a Futaba 6exa!
