Yes it is a bit tall. Depends on the angle you see the aircraft as in fact it is not THAT bad. Another factor may be that it is at the same time a bit narrow...
The engine is a YS140DZ. On the photo, it has an APC 18x8 when I flew with 20% nitro but I then switched to 30% nitro so I had to change the prop to an APC 18x8W. It spun the wide blade at about 8400 RPMs.
You should defenitely get the converted one, I am really not sure it will provide enough power in the stock configuration. In fact, I am not sure for the converted one... That is the answer from a YS guy.
The absolute minimum in size for a gasser of very good performance is about the size of the plane of CHM in post #36. That aircraft must be really interesting.
