Depends on how serious you are, and how much you're willing to invest.

For about $500 you can get set up with a glow trainer, field equipment to start and run the engine, and AMA and club memberships. (You need both and will want to find an instructor. They're free. )

Or buy one of the Aerobirds, go to a la-arge park and give it a go. Of course if you really enjoy it you'll be buying the glow trainer and looking for a club before long anyway.
