Some speed controls will make a high pitch noise at low speeds. Usually you can only hear it below about 1/4 throttle. It will sometimes make that sound when the throttle trim is too far forward as well. It just means that there is enough power going through the ESC to make the noise but not enough power to turn the motor. I'm not really sure what causes it. My guess would be that this is the noise you're hearing.
