The funny thing about combat is that running out and buying "the best" of this or that won't really help you.

There are a number of differnet combat kits available, and when set up and flown correctly by a pilot who's style matches the plane, any of them can win. However, picking a plane that does't match your flying style just because isn't going to work out well for you.

You're far better off flying what the guys near you fly, at least at first. Fly a contest or two, and figure out how you want your planes to handle, then go from there.

Exotic russian engines aren't common in RC Combat, even with the very best pilots. Instead, inexpesive, reliable engines are preferred. The most popular engine is still the OS .25FX and for good reason. The Webra .25 is a bit more powerful. I like them a lot, but some folks have had some problems with them.

For kits, off of the top of my head, the Avenger and the Cobra are two of the best available. I'm not sure what the current version is, but the planes produced by Hattrick are first rate as well.

And remember, if you really want to be competitive, you need to get comfortable with your plane, and you'll need more than just one. How many you need depends on where you fly and how often of course.
