Nick, I can't speak for the smaller Rascal, but I used metal pushrods in my Rascal 40 and they work great. They are 2-56 size, and I ran them in the tubes that were in the plane, just curved them slightly to follow the bend of the tubes. One size down from 2-56 would still be stiff enough, I think so they don't buckle under compression loads; the pushrod tubes don't have to fit real close; I think it's probably better if they'r a little big for the wire so you don't get any binding.
