The only time that I have had the problem that you describe is when the battery pack had a problem. Also, when charging a pack for the very first time, make sure that you charge it at the overnight rate. For your 1800 pack that would be 180ma, 10 hour charge. A lot of guys at our field getting into E-flight for the first time swear that their charger is bad because it false peaks on a brand new pack. I have found that some cells, specifically those with higher internal resistance (AAA nimh) definately can not be charged at high rate for the first time without false peaking.
