I agree, it is soft, and can be messy. When I first started using it I was constantly cleaning the stuff off my iron. After a short time I learned to minimize the mess. I also learned to keep the heat gun away from the edges so it doesn't pull away. I still prefer that the covering sticks better with it than without, but I hear, and accept that you're happier without it.
