I think there are two attributes that are important for a succesful beginner heli pilot. 1) patience and 2) a desire to learning everything they can. These two characteristics generally produce a long learning curve but also aid in reducing the number of mishaps you may have.
There are many posts on this forum from people you want to just take the heli out of the box and plug it in and go fly. They want to skip over the learning curve. Then when they've crashed/repaired their heli a dozen times, the post a question, "my heli keeps crashin what ami doing wrong".
