Sounds like you stripped the gears on the servos.

I've been very happy with GWS Naro/STD Pro servos on my micro FP helis They're reasonably quick for cyclic response and very smooth. For the tail, you should use a quick servo such as the Hitec HS55 or SR75(?) by eflight.
