Wow! This little jewel is a keeper. It's my new favorite plane. Easy build, good hardware, covering and PERFORMANCE! Mine has a Hacker A30-28S with Hacker 55 amp ESC and NanoTech 1.6 battery. HiTech HS45HB servos and is the first electric I've tried that flys like a much larger aircraft; it even likes the wind>
Thanks to James Cobb for letting me fly his, and recommending the plane.
Now I'm looking at the 47" Red Bull Edge.

you should also check out Extreme Flight and Precision Aerobatics models too. If you're looking for something in the 47-48" size, they have several options.

I have a few 3DHS planes and the one that stays in my trunk for every day any where is the little Edge. This little baby is built as good as any PA or EF plane and cost a whole wopping 99.00 plus 12.00 shipping..
It also comes with on line step by step videos for the build manual.. took a whole wopping 3 hours to build it perfectly..
This very well maybe the only plane, (arf) that will never need a landing gear mod. One tough little son of a you know what. Go ahead and slam her down she doesn't care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any one that wants to give her a spin in San Diego is more then welcome to stop by and throw it around, you'll just smile at how agile and true yet so forgiving...
Thanks Ben and gang at 3DHS for giving us one tough, true, and CHEAP quality plane..

Here's some repeated deliberate ground slappings, just to show how tough this plane is................

Reference 3D hobbyshop Edge 540, 41": Since my original post I have flown this little edge more than anything else; and I have a fleet of 12 flyable RC aircraft/helis now.
There is no better aircraft to keep with you ready to fly anywhere, anytime.
My set-up is : Hacker 30-28s motor, Hacker 55 amp ESC, (I like the arming switch; but don't forget to unplug the battery after flight; the esc still draws a little power even with the switch off; and it WILL TOTALLY discharge your battery!!) , NanoTech 1.6 Mah, 30-50 C LiPo battery, APC 11x5.5 E prop.
She only weighs 31 oz. with battery.
I hope they are back in stock soon so I can get a back-up![img][/img][

Thats an easy one..That Rv-9 isn`t a 3D plane, Its more of a scale sport plane.. I`m not even sure it it has full length ailerons...This plane has to top that for sure..I just ordered one myself hours ago...I like the Addiction as a first 3D plane BTW.. Very slow and gentle...You don`t have to fly it as good as the guys on youtube to have fun with it...They are just really good!!

So i thin iam geting one soon considering that i have a few 480's layin around and 40 amp esc's and 2200 mah 3s batts.

at 87g the park 480 1020 kv sits in a decent spot to mount in the Edge 41....
I have the Addiction too, and it is a very fun plane to fly.... (always buy a roll of the covering, because you will beat on that plane and ultimately have to repair wing tips ...its Achilles heal
)
the 3DHS 41 Edge has better landing gear (durability) and increased wing and tail surface area... I love it as much and now more than my Addiction...if you have a Park 480 consider the Edge.... in the addiction I think it is a heavier motor

I do now. the first Edges (40") were picked up by people like myself that were walking away from something like the EFlite extra 480 3D and the big mistake many make is thinking "small plane....easy" or "small plane...trainer" .... Not at all.... the 40" Edge was every bit the wild 3D machine as any of its larger cousins. it was modeled after the larger planes and was an absolute performer. I still have one and love it
so there is the sector of people that come on the market and look to get into a 3D capable performer, so 3DHS decided to redesign the current offering to withstand more abuse (wire landing gear, etc) and this plane was basically dropped from 6 feet to ensure the gear could handle the rough and tumble of not only the avid 3D flyer, but the person coming on to the seen looking for a new adventure
the wings and tail were redesigned to add more area and the airfoil was also redesigned by Scott Stoops to ensure it had the same performance, yet also gave the plane a wider flight envelope to help people coming on board to 3D
before that people were steered into the 47 SHP which is also a very excellent plane, but we are talking the 40" variety here
to fly 3D you do have to work on making the plane lighter... my addiction flies on 1300 mah batteries, and my son's flies extremely well on 2200's
this is also the range you can work on with the 41" Edge. My Addiction has been severely battered and repaired and it still gets tossed around. I loved the floatieness and ability to slow fly the plane in a small area. when I moved to the 41" Edge i was very impressed with its improved ability to do this as well...
the nice setups include using HS45 servos that come with "slip before strip" gearing... they have extremely long leads and that removes the need for extensions in the wings. the Omega 72g motor they sell is very affordable and can swing an 11x5.5 or 12x6 on a 35amp ESC.... if you are flying balls out on 12x6 check your amps but more importantly temps when the weather gets warmer. I was a big fan of the 12x6, but just like the Addiction I became a bigger fan of the 11x5.5 on my Edge
for someone switching over from the Horizon stuff, both planes are improvements in your choice to learn 3D or even increase fun level of flying. Both manufacturers sell replacement motor boxes.... I seem to chew threw those
.... but from a durability side without getting pimped on weight, I like the Edge better (IMHO).... I have battered it so many times trying to learn something new and I have been continually surprised by walking up to what I think will be a pile of balsa and finding no damage...
I had the Orange one, and gave it to a buddy who was learning so he could save his for when he got better.... I am getting the new silver one in a day or so
again, I have flown both planes (Addiction and Edges - 40" and 41"), like each of them... you are walking in with a 480 motor that will bolt on to the Edge just fine with your 2200s... if you really like the Edge, you can eventually do what I did which is take the 480 and throw it on a 42 Slick and go with the 72g Omega on the Edge as you improve the 3D...
let me know if I can help with any questions
there is a very long thread on RCG devoted to the 41" Edge as well http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1226319
lots of videos and comparable experiences to what you are asking
