RE: Fliton Quiet Storm build
Here are some build pictures of the Quiet Storm.
The first picture shows I substituted 0.070" CF rod for the rudder and elevator push rods. The music wire supplied is to weak and deflects with max servo movement. I use thread and CA to attach the CF rod to the music wite ends.
The second picture shows I substituted a 3/8" maple motor mount stick for the balsa one. I used the supplied Hacker mount and made a front attachment flange for the 3/8" stick.
Picture #3 shows the Falcon 2500ma 3S1p battery location. I use a CG right over the main spar (approx 90mm from the wing LE).
Picture shows the plane almost ready to fly. I drilled a hole in the middle of the main spar to install a thread loop. I use the thread loop to check CG after I install the battery. Depending on flying 3d or pattern, I can now easly check CG adjustments at the field.
By the way, this plane flys great. I had my first flight with 15mph winds and gusts of 20mph. No problems on the flight. I did break out the landing gear plate on landing on grass. Later I will post the mods I did for the landing gear plate reinforcement. I was lucky and had no damage to the plane.
I am using the HiMax 2025-4266 motor/gear, APC 12-6sf prop, CC p-25 ESC, Falcon 3s1p 2500ma LiPo. Final weight with landing gear plate mods was 27oz. My static thrust is between 38 and 40oz. No performance problems.

After you go to post reply, there is the reply box you type in your message. At the bottom of the frame is a "Click here to upload!"
Just click on it and go to the brouse box and upload a picture from your files. There is size limit on the pictures. All of my pictures are taken at 1mb or at the VGA resolution.
Good luck,
Steve

Also save the files as JPEG's. Otherwise even the tiniest bmp will be to large to post here. If you have to big of a file, open Paint and go to tools, strech/scew and edit it to like 75 or 50% vertical and horiztonal, or you can email them to me at [email protected]

In this picture, I removed the aileron from the wing and removed the hinges. I drew a center line on the hinges and re-inserted them into the aileron and put the aileron back on to the wing with the ca hinges. The centerline I drew on the Ca hinges were to make sure the hinges were centered, half the hinge in the wing and the other half in the aileron.

This pic I cut the slots out on the side for the horizontal stab and wings. Next I fitted the horizontal stab in the fuse and drew the cut lines to remove the covering so as to have a wood surface to glue the stab to the fuse. Next I centered the stab on the fuse. I then slid the stab out a little and applied epoxy and did the same the opposite direction. I used 15 min epoxy so I would have time to align the stab to the fuse. Once that was dry I attached the elevators the same way I did the ailerons. Make sure the stab is centered and aligned

Well I am still building the Storm. I changed my mind on the servos and will be using Futaba S3108. I will be modifying the motor mount to accept the Hacker out runner motor. I mounted the gear and wheel pants. I modifyed the wheel pants so I could remove them with out taking the wheels off. I will be post more pics today.

I have finished the plane since this picture. I re-inforced the motor box with the hacker outrunner on it. I was going for a test flight today but it was to windy. I will try for a test flight this weekend and get some video of it. I will be posting more pics of my build as well.
