Default 3D Foamy

i have the Edge 540

anyone have one?
how does it fly?
what motor did you put in it?
what servos?batt?rec?

I am going to put in something with 40 of 50 oz of thrust
it is only going to 15 oz at most
i'd say i will have a little power on it
i have it built but nothing is in it

i will post pics soon

thanks

I would shoot for thirty oz thrust or so; more thrust means heavier motor and heavier battery. Too many variables go into thrust measurements. Watts per lb of airplane weight is a more meaningful yardstick; 150 W/lb will give you good 3d.

O sorry I didn’t realize you were being specific to the 3D foamy Edge.... There are so many 3D foamy edges out there I didn’t realize you were talking brand and not type of plane.... and for that plane and any 3D foamy you should have about a 2:1 thrust to weight ratio. Which looks like you should be at 30 ounces of thrust. Just like michpittsman said the more power the more weight and the worse your plane will fly you want to stay right around 2:1.

and i think i will go with something around 30 oz of thrust
just because of the weight of the motor

i will get a motor, esc, rec, and servos at Telodo at the convension
i have 3 batts. for it
this is the first foamy i have built but not my first

Your going to Toledo ? Cool maybe I will see you there. Are you going to the ETOC or the EX games ? I am competing in both. I will also be at the FMA Direct booth if you want to stop by and say hello.
