Default 3DX Hobbies sending un-solicited spam e-mails

Not sure about you all but I have been recieving unsoliceted spam from 3DX Hobbies (aka Airfoilz) for the last two weeks or so. I have opted out of thier e-mail list on every occation and it seems to prompt them to send more. I personally will not buy anything from any company that does this. I wanted one of thier planes and was ready to buy one but now I am buying a copperhead extra stifffy just out of Spite. I think all consumers should not buy from companies that send you e-mail you do not wish to recieve.

I received the "confirmation" that I signed up for their newsletter too...

{edited by me}

Hmmm... I don't remember ever signing up for a give away.... but that doesn't mean that I didn't...... I retract my earlier statement with apologies......

it was just a surprise to me.....
as I don't remember signing up....... Oh well.... must be a severe case of CRS...

The only way you would have been signed up to the newsletter if you have registered to the contest and if so all you have to do it click the link to un-subscribe. BTW I have only recieved ONE email asking to be removed from the email list.

If you register to win one of the free giveaway planes you are automatically entered in the newsletter subscription... which if you don't want, then you can opt out when you get the first one.

If you are getting them after attempting to opt out, perhaps there is a glitch in their new shopping cart that he is unaware of...

Don't suppose you attempted to contact them first without bashing them here on RCU? Since I designed their Airfoilz Site, I happen to know Paul is a stright up guy and while this is a useful tool to keep people informed of new designs and releases (like the new Edge 540 below) he certainly would not want to upset anyone intentionally.

Please just send Paul an e-mail and he will make sure the problem is fixed.

Exeter Acres... if you didn't order something from the website or sign up to win a free Airfoilz plane... I can't imagine how you got in their database...

Anywho... I think it's rpetty neat to get a little junkmail about something I might be interested (RC related stuff) as opposed to selling me a Rolex knockoff, Viagra in bulk or help me please my woman.

But that's me... certainly there are people who just simply don't want anything... in that case let them know about the issue.

You're going to buy another companies plane because you signed up for an email blast that WAS solicited??

Enjoy your Stiffy I hear they are pretty strong, but I prefer a lighter ship personally.

I entered the contest. I unsubscribed to the first newsletter. Does that knock me out of the contest? PS: I also thought the Stiffy was heavier, then we had one of each at my field. I thought the Stiffy felt lighter. I hope next time someone has a scale when both are there together.

Nope... you're still in the drawing, but your name is removed from the newsletter database.

You think it felt lighter? Strange... my Airfoilz Yak is a chubby 17oz (just under if I recall) and has 40" of wing... the Stiffy reports I've been reading say 20 oz+ and 36" of wing. And that's why I ordered another Airfoilz instead of getting the Stiffy.

I'm not knocking either... there's different kind of pie... just so there's pie for everyone.

Well you live in Edison, NJ that's where 3DX is located, give him a call and go see one for yourself before you make your decision.

I did a review on the Extra Stiffy. I'm working on the reivew for the Airfoilz Yak 54. Both are good designs but the Yak seems to have incorporated some designs that the Stiffy has missed. The best design is that they have cored out the weight in the fuse and added 2 wood spars for strength. Same with the wing, wood spar. Bigger and lighter too.

Here are some good pics, I'll finish the thread review this weekend hopefully. The plane is done, but my writing takes longer then building.

I don't want either one, unless of coarse I win a free one. Maybe when I did my quick feel of the two, one might not have had the battery in it or something. I don't have to go to the shop to look at them. There are 2 airfoilz and 1 stiffy at my field. If I was interested, I'd check them out side by side.
