RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Winde,
Plane looks awesome. Could you post photos of motor mounting area, battery placement, and access hatch? Just trying to get an idea what kind of space/access you get with this one.
How is the airframe strengths? Extreme planes appear to be really light, 2.5 lb for almot 50" wingspan (as tated on Extreme webiste). For comparison, Hyperion 55" Yak is around 5lb. Just wandering if there any strength compromizes anywhere.
Thanks,
Andy

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
fuselage photos coming right up , no shortcuts here ,stress proof design incorp. during design stage
as all planes from EFRC.
I'm using 3s1p lipo as compared to 4s-5s on the other 55"yak.
the canopy now comes with 4 rare earth magnets and are aligned as usual,
it even attached on with a click sound.......
my fly wight is 2.875 lbs.

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Thank you for the pictures! Looks like there is a ton of room in there. I also really like the pull-pull system for the rudder. It appears I have a first pick for my next project.
Regarding weight, I estimate that 5S pack vs 3S pack will probably give you 10-12oz advantage, depending on capacity. Also, Hyperon Yak is about 10% larger, so it will account for portion of weight difference. It still feels like Extreme Yak is a notch above in weight management. Given that airframe stengths is adequate, as you mention, Extreme may have a winner there!

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Hello Guys,
I just ordered one of these and can't wait for it to come in. I got the combo with the outrunner and speed control that extreme flight recommends. I went on their website and also browsed thru the instruction manual.
I trying to pick up everthing I need before the plane comes. I will run a 3s1p 2150mah Lipo battery and the manual said I can use either a 13x6.5e or 14x7e prop. I fly at sea level and will be doing acro and attempting 3d. What does everyone think is the best prop choice?
Thanks for your help,
Lawrence

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Since you are gathering things that you need for the plane I would suggest getting a watt meter. This will give you all the info that you need to select thr right prop.
I would suggest on the 13x6.5e first. I think that you would be happier with this prop on the 3s1p.

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
My Yak is due to arrive today, can't wait to get it in the air.
I emailed Chris because I wanted to make sure I had everything needed to build the Yak. This was his reply...
you will need thin and medium CA, blue loctite, Blenderm tape, Velcro and a 2" spinner. The Great Planes 2" spinner with aluminum backplate works great.
I got my spinner through tower... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBMY2&P=7
I got a product similar to blenderm at the local drug store. 3M Nexcare First-Aid Flexible Clear Tape (Transpore)
Tower also has blenderm (a little more expensive than drug store) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXJGT1&P=ML
Have fun,
Digs

I picked up the Extreme Flight line because I think they represent the state of the art in mid-size E-Flight, and after looking at the details, I couldn't be more pleased. These ARF's are sweet!
These will be a great addition to the AeroCat and AeroSport Jet foamies, because there is always a market for high quality products.

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Mine's in! And what a beauty! As expected, it's similar in design to the awesome lasercut setup as the Extra 300E... only a little bigger.
Everything arrived in tip top shape... cowl is so gorgeous, covering great.... just another sweet plane from EF.
I opted for the entire Complete combo with HS-65's, Torque motor/Airboss 45 amp ESC/ FLightPower 4s 2150, BEC, etc...
Nice, one stop option... and after seeing the vids... I know it's a powerful setup.
The fuse has LOTS of room... swallows up the 4s pack with room to spare...
I'm only sorry I've got a plate load of stuff to get done this week before I can start!!!!! AAAArgggghhhhh!
Here are some pics...

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Mine showed up well abused by UPS, the cowling was 'mashed', cracked cross brace in the fuse, cracked cross brace in the canopy. A short e-mail to Cliff at Atlanta Hobby and a complete new airplane shows up three days later ! It is a NICE airframe, goes together very well. The most time consuming process was using a Sharpie pen to color the wheels black !!
More later.
More later.

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Mine is on the way. Few questoins for the experts.. I want to stick with 3s, not a big plane pilot, have quite a few 3s packs ranging from 2000 to 2650... Should I need larger than a 2650 pack to run this thing?
I know chris built this thing for the hs65, I plan to use futaba servos, I've seen the 3110 mentioned... will it fit without modifying servo mounts?
Thanks, Mike
