Showtime 50!!!
Looks like another great plane for the 3D hanger. Using a E-flite 60/CC80,6s2p setup. Getting about 1180 watts on a 16 x 8 prop. AUW is at 6lbs 14oz. Bit beefy but should have the squares to hold it up. Nice assembly, no surprises and no mods really needed. Will get it maidened sometime this week and some video shortly thereafter. Everybody have a great holiday season and keep em' flyin! Or if you're not flying due to weather at least build/repair em!

Looks aren't everything. Flying well is another! If it takes SFG's to help with my KE flight then so be it! But its a nice plane on the inside....

RE: Showtime 50!!!
Got the maiden flights in today. Really a stable platform. Will get some more flights in soon and open it up a little more. Landings are a breeze. You can almost land hands free![sm=shades_smile.gif] SFG's really make a difference too. Much better with them on. Some people may disagree, but try it for yourself and decide. At least if you don't like them-take em' off! Had the cowl screws work loose and wallow out holes and the cowl made some unwanted noise. A little CA and some rubber washers should fix that issue. Tried DX-7 out too. Response was right on. Seems to be a very quick response to stick inputs. Don't know whether it's the AR6000 vs. AR7000 or my imagination, but it happens as soon as you think it. Big thumbs up to Horizon and Spektrum! Good job!

RE: Showtime 50!!!
I'm trying Prolites and Xtremes. 6s2p (2100's) Getting about 1180 watts with the 16 x 8 on fully charged pack of Xtremes . I'm at 225' ASL maybe that's got something to do with it. Also tweaked prop a little for better performance. This is not the lightest bird but it needs an E-flite 80, if there was one! Not using a Rx battery, need the weight savings. AUW @ 6lbs 14oz. Nice flyer but I'm reserving my judgement till I fly my Reactor .60! Going to to a comparison fly off between the Showtime 50, Inspire 60 and the Reactor .70, should be a blast! I'm sure each plane will do something a little better than the other ones ,but being able to compare all 3 together in the same day will be the real test.

RE: Showtime 50!!!
Oh yea going to try them out. How do they affect the plane when the wind is blowing? My mini Funtana gets pushed around more with the wind when the SFGs are on. So I take them off to fly. Oh ... I have a runway spot to land planes in my back yard , on my 3rd flight yeterday, I programed my flaporon with the elev. and did a few touch and gos . made a huge difference on how this plane will slow way down to land in a shorter distance. I like the new spektrum

I find if it's windy, watch out for flying perpendicular with the wind. Try to fly straight into or with the prevailing wind, it will throw some unexpected moves. Other than that, it will fly OK in the wind.

RE: Showtime 50!!!
3DownLow I have the Showtime 50 setup from Horizon with the Eflite 60. I ordered the motor mount from Horizon. Do you have any pictures of how you mounted yours mounted to the firewall? Did you use any of the existing holes? If not I was wondering if you have some measurements as to where I locate the holes?
Thanks.
Hal

RE: Showtime 50!!!
bsipro thanks directing me to your thread. I am using the motor mount from horizon. I was trying to figure out how to locate the mount. Do I need to put some extra holes in the firewall for cooling?
Thanks again for your help.

RE: Showtime 50!!!
Mike Parsons(RcGroups.com/Wattflyer.com) mount is just what I used on mine. Drilled about 4 x 1/2" holes around perimeter of motor mount for cooling and enlarged one for direct cooling to ESC tie wrapped behind firewall. Sorry, too lazy to dissasemble cowl for pics. Had some cowl screw issues and got them just where I need them and don't really want to take them out until I need to get under the cowl again. Try to take some pics then. Pretty straightforward. Make sure to cut out exit hole under fuse, which you've probably already done. But saw a plane the other day with no cooling exit and the guy wondered why his canopy kept popping off and his packs were really hot! 3 quesses, first 2 don't count. Good luck and have fun with the bird.

RE: Showtime 50!!!
Very little rudder input needed with the SFG's on for sure. That's what they're for right?! Can't believe people fly planes that come with SFG's and don't use them. What a waste! Try em' you'll love em! Glad to see you're enjoying them for what they are intended for.
