Default Need a new 3D to match my Power 10

I crunched my GP ultimate today so I need a new 3D plane. My E-Flite power 10 needs a new home. It will fly something in the 28-36 oz. range with authority. I would prefer something on the upper end of that scale, a Yak or Sukhoi. I don't want another electric bipe. What do you guys recommend?

Sorry for your loss Always a bummer to break up a plane.......even if you were thinking about something new anyway

Take a look at the 3DHobbyShop stuff. More specifically, based on your requirements, the 47" YAK54 (comes in at 34-38oz) would be perfect or a borderline weight possibility would be the 47" Extra SHP (comes in at 37-40oz). Really nice planes. I have been flying the Yellow version of the Extra for a little while now. Great flying plane. Handles everything you throw at it with relative ease. I am also getting ready to put together one of the Purple YAK 54's. The construction quality is top notch and the planes are sharp. A step up from the typical on the shelf ARF kit. Another option for that weight class and motor would be the Extreme Flight Extra 300 (comes in at 33-35oz), again top notch quality ARF kit and great flight performance.

The Extreme Flight Extra 300 flys great on my Power 10. The new Extreme Flight 260 is also very nice and can do more extreme manuvers.

Hey guys, thanks. I looked at both of those sites and they both have beautiful planes. Now another problem.................... which plane to get? Oh, decisions, decisions.

I have flown both and they are great flying planes. If you like more patern flying, then get the 300. If you like 3D, get the 260. The 260 is much more manuverable than the 300, but is a little more sensitive on high rates. They both handle light wind fine are are easy to land/take off from dirt or paved fields. A 3S-2200 pack flys them fine too.

another vote for the 260 (I have flown that, but will Quickly admit that I HAVE NOT flown the 300)
I am sure the 300 is a great plane, Chris is meticulous and only has good stuff....

I have flown the 260 and really liked it... I'm going to pick one up when I sell another plane...the 10 would be ballistic in it...
I'm going to put my Hacker A30-16m in it

You guys are saying Extreme Flight has a new Extra 260? I can't find it on their web page.

Like I said, I don't want another bipe and it has to be something tha will take a Power 10. It is between the Extreme Flight 300 and the 3D Hobbyshop Yak 54.
BTW there is no 260 on the Extreme Flight website. If there is, someone please put the actual 260 link up. I will decide tomorrow when I go to the field for a good Sunday afternoon of flying.

Ah, guys were getting E-Flite and Extreme Flight mixed up. A guy in our club just got an E-Flite 260, it is a great flier. Another one that looks good is the E-Flite Mini ShowTime 4D

Update: I went with the 3D Hobby Yak 54, 47". Really nice plane, flies off the wall 3D. I like the carbon landing gear as well.

OK, that makes sense. For awhile there, I thought I was just an idiot! Oh, wait a minute, I am an idiot. I've got the E-Flite Extra 260. It does fly good, but in my opinion it's slightly underpowered with the 480. I am still playing with my prop though, so my opinion could change. I do think a power 10 would do it though, but it's extra weight.

Mikey, I will be looking at the Airfoilz Bipe in the near future. I think the 480 would power it nicely. I may also be looking at a PA Addiction as well. Right now I've got a Seagull X-Ray lined up next for my 480.

My friend has one with the Park 480 and his flies lights out. He really likes the power he gets with his.

260 underpowered with a 480? What elevation? I am in minnesota and even at hover pullout I am never over 5/8-3/4 throttle. Just flying around you are at less then half. The 480 has a ton of power for that plane, a power 10 would be nothing but dead weight.

Would a power 10 setup work well on a Katana MD?!?!

That was my thought, I have seen the 260 fly with a park 480 and that is plenty of power. Could it be the 1020 kv vs. the 910 Kv. Does that even matter?

I have one and fly at 7,000+ feet with the 480 and it can't really hold a hover. Way underpowered for 3D. Will a power 10 drop into it? More power would really be nice. This elevation can get really annoying, but being able to see the ski area from my field is definitly a plus!

The Power 10 weighs 1.2 oz more, it is 10mm longer so it will protrude out further than the 480. The 260 was pretty much designed with the 480 in mind. If you don't mind it sticking out a little further, go ahead.

I have used my e-flight 10 motor in three e-flight airplanes. I had great success with all three. The only modification needed is to extend the cowl to accomodate the extra shaft length. The three aircraft are: Funtana X, Brio 10, and Showtime. My favorite is the Funtana X. The 10 size motor does increase nose weight and it is hard to move the battery back because the wing tube is in the way, but I just went up over the wing tube and balanced the aircraft. The Brio is a 10 aircraft and is not a problem. The Showtime turns out to be nose heavy even with the 480 motor. I had no problem with the balance because I put the battery BEHIND the wing tube. The airplane comes with a removable door on the bottom to use while attaching the wings. I put the velcro there to hold the battery in place and solved the problem. Make sure you get the Funtana X, there is a smaller Funtana. It is yellow. The X is mostly white. Good luck. John

A friend of mine also has the Mini funtana x with a 10 on it. Flys great very fast. Not much for 3D though. Might be the user also.
