Hovering

I've been into helis for about 8 months and am able to do some mild 3D; flips, rolls, inverted hovering, etc. I got myself a Parkzone UM T-28 Trojan a few months ago to try out planks, and I've had a good time throwing it around, so I just got an Eflite UMX Extra 300 3D. It's a lot more fun!

I've seen a video on YouTube of someone effortlessly hovering one, or "hangin' on the prop", right in their living room. I feel like I could too if I could somehow swap the aileron and rudder channels, which would make it more like hovering a heli.

Is there anyway this can be achieved? Maybe with mixes and dual rates or something? I'm using a mode-2 Spektrum DX8.

RE: Hovering

Well I figured it out, turns out what I'm trying to do is actually a thing, called "Mode 4."<div>
</div><div>It's an incredibly simple programming change in the system settings menu. I love the DX8!</div><div>
</div><div>My hovering is a lot more precise in Mode 4! I don't have to process anything I can just rely on muscle memory from helis. It's pretty bizarre for normal flying though, I'll still fly Mode 2 outside and just switch to Mode 4 for precision hovering or indoor hovering.</div>

RE: Hovering

Interesting, we had this conversation the other day at the field.

I dont think I could get used to switching but with something small and cheap I may give it a go.
