Large Shockflyer

Here is the start of my 45" Shockflyer. I made the CAD drawings of the original and scaled it to this size. The motor will be a Himax 2025 with GWS D gearbox and Kokam 3S 1500 Lipos.

Well here's my 40"Yak with razor 2500, 6.6:1 gearing, TP 3P2100 it comes out to 15 ounces and on the 12x6 it has plenty of thrust. Hopefully tomarrow will be the maiden.

Would you be interested in sharing your CAD drawings. We use CAD at work and have a plotter. I have a shock flyer Edge-540 now but am interested in building something from scatch. I need a bigger plane for the Mega 16/7/7 setup that's in my Slow Stick. I was thinking of just buying the Mega Straight Edge but sure like your plane a lot better.

RE: Large Shockflyer

RE: Large Shockflyer

No way man!!!! I have to travel an hour away to go to a Lowes for the foam. Only Home Depots here and they do not have the blue foam.

RE: Large Shockflyer

Oh.....I need to make a foam cutter, any easy instructions...or a link? I have and old Lionel ZW transformer and plentu of guitar strings. Any clues?

Staudacher 05-06-2004 10:32 PM

RE: Large Shockflyer

A good sharp #11 Exacto blade is all you will need.

RE: Large Shockflyer

OK....I'm in!!!!! With mothers day being this weekend....... next week I will get the foam.

I did 50% of what your original plans are so th span is 47". I have an MP Jet bushless combo with gear box....has the power of a 480.....I will drop that on her. I want to experiment with the GWS props. I have an APC 10X4.7 that may work.....but a lot of guys are using the large diameter GWS slow flying props.....any suggestions?

I dont use L-polys....I will use the HE cells 1100 miliamp with eight cells. Should I drop the scale a little more for this combo?
