Ultimate 3D

Hey guys. I just got an ultimate 3D and I wanted to ask a few questions before I get started. First off, I will be airbrushing it instead of using the decals, and I will be using the createx airbrush paint ( same stuff I use on shirts ). Does anyone have any experience with this foam/paint? Also, the scheme is slightly complicated and I was thinking of using just a plain ole magic marker for some of the details. I was going to go with the stock motor but I was talked out of it from what I have heard about the power, so I will be going with a brushless, and I will also be using pull pull for the rudder and elevator. Any tips or hints would help a lot, thanks.

The stock power is just barely enough to fly the plane. You'll like brushless. Soon, I hope, to go brushless. A HiMax 2812/0650 since it will bolt in and is direct drive, a 3S 1320mah TP li-po, and a Castle Creations 10 ESC.

I have had no probs with the pushrods on the tail of my Ultimate, but I do like the pull-pull on my glow powered Ultimate's. It'd be interesting to see how it wourks out for ya. The GWS servo arms won't work for pull-pull I don't think. They are too short to go through the fuse. I ended up with my servos mounted through the fuse rather than on the side as the instructions say.

Sorry no help on the paint. I used the decals.

Thanks Bronco, That sounds like a good setup. I have made my own control horns out of laminated 1/64th ply and will have my servos in the middle of the fuse. I'll let you know how it works out, hopefully I will be able to get it done soon. I am waiting for parts to come in at the hobby shop, and waiting to get my radio back from being repaired, but hopefully it wont be too long.

FWIW, the LHS owner changed his mind on the HiMax motor before he even tried it. He went with an Axi 2208/34. He reports 1/2 throttle hovering with that setup. The HiMax should be about the same I think. Anyway the Axi is more since the motor mount is sold seperately.
