Help selecting motor
I am new to the world of 3d electrics. I have a Eflight Ultimate, Phoenix 25 speed control, and receiver and servos. My problem is I don't know anything about the electric motors so I do not know which one to get. I know enough to know I do not want a gearbox with the motor.
I found these at [link=http://www.toddsmodels.com/Brushless%20Motors/Himax/himaxoutrunner.htm]Todd's Models[/link] but I do not know which one to get. Also what prop should I get?[&:] I am looking for all out 3d performance and need all the help I can get. Thanks guys. |
RE: Help selecting motor
PCM,
Can I ask why you do not want a gearbox with the motor? I run gearboxs with all my 3d electric planes with no problems. 76.ta |
RE: Help selecting motor
Go with the "outrunner" engine. No need for a gearbox. I think the majority is switching over to them. I know I am, simple because I hate gear boxs. Makes an exspensive plane sound cheap. Go with this,Himax 2812-0850 Brushless Out-Runner Motor. Its about $63.00 depends on where you buy. No gearbox just power and reliability.

RE: Help selecting motor
76.ta,
I just like to keep it simple. The gearbox in my opinion is just something else to go wrong.:D Dave, Thanks man.[sm=thumbup.gif] I am going to try the 2812-0850 as you suggest. One more question. What prop should I try on it?[sm=confused.gif] |
RE: Help selecting motor
we are going to be using the GWS 11 x 4.7 prop. Its suppose to work the best on this motor.
