Micro receivers and range problems?

Greetings!

Has anyone used the new breed of tiny receivers like the GWS (intended for park fliers, etc.) in a larger plane like a hand launch glider or the mini funtana. These planes could get beyond the 650' advertised range of the GWS receiver. Due to their light weight, it seems like a natural to want to use them though........

Thanks for any info,

Ernie

At 650', I doubt you could control a plane the size of the Mini-Funtana.. It would be a speck. Most 3D planes never more than 200' away.
For glicers, it's different, these do get altitude and distance... as long as the plane is about 20 degrees above the horizon, the range should be adequate.
I've flown my Feather receiver in a high-performance electric sailplane, and on the slope without any loss of range.
Small planes far away are not going to survive very long... just because they're small.
My Micro-Air 9"span thingie goes invisible at 200'.

If you want range in a micro receiver just by a Berg. I have two of these "bullet proof" FULL range single conversion receivers. You can even use GWS cyrstals. You won't find a better micro receiver, and I only paid $50.
