Actually the stock motor provides plenty of power for hovers vertical pullouts and just good old 3d. Just do everything they tell you too do including battery size and you will be quite happy.

I have the 650 and am quite dissappointed..... I bought it to use in 15oz or so foamies and it barely holds them in the air...
it may work for a much lighter plane, like a shocky, but for my 15 -16oz planes I now use a Hacker A20

Yes it will and then some depending on the AUW. Mine came in @ 14 oz. and am using the smaller 2808 0980 out runner with a 10/3.8 prop. Plenty of power and you can get away with the Pheonix 10. With a TP 1320 3 cell LiPo it gets 20 minutes per pack. What I did was add another mounting stick, glued to the stock one, as the out runners put the thrust about a half inch off the line as it was designed for a geared set up. Also with the offset, the cowl now lines up. The first thing I did was to get rid of the cowl. Joe

If you want to use the cowl you will find that it is too high when mounted to the stock mount stick. My concern was that it raised the thrust line higher than the geared motor setup. Don't know if that makes a difference. I figured that was where they had it so thats what I would do. Joe
