shock flyer query
Hi There
I'm busy building my first electric foamy - Shock flyer (Extra 330S). Would like to know where to best place whould be for mounting the battery pack (3cell lipo) underneath the wing, or velcrowed to the side of the fuse?. And then if I should leave a gap between the rudder & elevator servo, or is it best to mount them right next to one another, so that u could glue them to each other, and then to the foam fuse???. Thanks Karl |
RE: shock flyer query
Velcro the battery to the fuselage. As far as the servos, I personally would leave an air gap between them. I would not glue them to one another.

Ok, thanks for that.

The shocky has a slot alread cut for the battery mounting location under the wing. I would mount the battery as instructed. This allows you to reposition the battery to get the CG in the correct spot, not only along pitch axis, but roll axis as well.
I mount the servos right next to the ailerons on the bottom side of the wing. One servo layed flat on one side for the rudder, and one on the other side for the elevator. A little dab of hotglue to hold them on. If you mount them in the tail, it can make it difficult to get the CG in the right place. The other problem with mounting them in the tail, is if one servo goes bad, and you have to remove it, you'll end up tearing up the plane to get it out. If you mount them as I said above, you can simply pop one off, and put another on in its place in a matter of minutes. |
