GP U-Can-Do EP Does!!!
 

Maidened my Great planes U-Can-Do 3-D EP yesterday and I like it!!! I am just learning the 3-d thing so I think this plane is great! I used a E-Flite Park 370/5100kv, Himaxx gearbox with 5.33:1 gears, E-Flite 20amp esc, 2 CELL tp 1320MAH lipoly, and a APC 11x7 prop. I stood still and tossed it straight out and it was flying. I seem to do okay with vertical climbout and it flies inverted as well as it does normally. Rolls seem good and inside and outside loops are easily done. I had heard alot of negative things about this plane and I was almost afraid to fly it! But now I'm glad that I did because this plane is fun!!! I can glide it in easily and land it at my feet!! It may not be a great plane for a real 3-d pilot but for me its perfect.

Mine is 98% finished... the ONLY item I need (and am waiting for it to arrive in the mail [:@] ) is the stick-mount for my motor. I am running a 3-cell (which hopefully won't be too heavy... if soemthing has to go, it'll be the 3-cell pack 1st for a 2) with the Hacker A20-20L outrunner with the Hacker ESC that matches. I plan on using an 11x4.7 for the maiden.

Did you stiffen the rear section of fuse between the wing and the horizontal stab?

Did you weigh your setup?

Hey guys,

I am not an “electric” flyer yet, but I want to buy ucando EP to fly during the week on the nearest parking lot. I do not know anything about park flyers except that they are all using batteries for power. If I buy the setup from tower hobbies would it be enough to do 3D (hover, harriers etc.)??? Thank you in advance.

While the stock system will fly the ucando and hove it briefly I would strongly recommend up grading to brushless!
If you are just getting into electrics isn't going to be cheap but you will better off in the long run. Do a lot of research on the Internet and go with what every one else is using.

Thanks. Should I use this one http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAHK6&P=ML . I think its brushless and I can use the stock gear set.

sorry mate that motor is brushed. a brushless motor has 3 wires

I upgraded my plane with a brushless AXI 2212/34 and a 1100 3-cell Lipo, 12x3.8 APC Prop. I get 15 minutes of wild aerobatics. Flys fast to really slow. There are several things you can do the make the plane really, really resistant to breaking when you crash. If you email me I will send you pics which will really keep your plane from breaking badly the first time you hit the ground! This is how you make your plane a good 3D trainer! This keeps the body from tearing away from the plane and tearing a hole in the front of the wing when you crash land, including the use of a great prop saver. if you go to ebay there are a lot of cheap outrunners. they would produce enough thrust to hover at about 3/4 throttle, depending on how you built it. while this isn't much power for punch out if you run into trouble, it is by far the cheapest option

I am looking for the perfect brushless outrunner and prop combo aswell. My target is long flight time, not overkill power. my rtf weight right now is 14.5oz with the stock 280bb motor and a 3 cell 2100 tp pack good for 21-25 amps continuous. since hovering requires a 1:1 thrust ratio and i want to climb vertically i figure 1.5 would be more than enough, not for insane climbs but at least to ascend with confidence compared to the stock setup wich feels more like a 1.1:1 thrust ratio with my heavier pack. so to achieve this i think i need the esc, outrunner and prop combination that will provide about 25 ounces of thrust while drawing the least possible amount of amps out of a 3 cell lipo. i know i could get a 5400 and stick it in the gearbox then fly like a missile but i'd rather spend more time in the air learning all the 3d moves to better hone my skills and less time charging packs. i'm self taught, still learning and this plane is a great teacher. I just need more time in the sky with it. (that and i think my motor gave me it's last flight tonight)

I may be aiming low with 1.5:1 i don't know, it sounds like enough to hover, climb and do it repetitively. Or just climb endlessly then hover some more and repeat without a care in the world about throttle position, cell condition, motor temp etc... so i can concentrate on my flying.


So.. O guru of brushless motors, props, lipo's and thrust if you are out there, what combo should i use to reach this goal?

never mind... couldn't wait, got a rimfire 1000kv (outrunner) and eflite 20amp. Haven't tried it yet. Should be too much power, if there is such a thing i guess this will be it... i have a 3s tp2100 and nothing else. i may have to spring for a 2s pack.
