I just Finished putting mine together tonight.. Hopefully I can take it out tomorrow. I found this video on these forums, I hope they are still up.. But its will show you what you can do with this plane

The kit for this plane isn't to bad.. The instructions outright suck. Its your typical instructions that are translated from an asian language into english thru a computer. So if you have a little experience you can make due with the pictures and bad english. Other little things that bother me is the tape that comes with it is crap,it won't even stick to a table. And I was also annoyed the engine mounting required me to drill in the holes, and get my own screw. But the manual made it sound like it was all included and supposed to be pre drilled. Other then that.. no complants and if i can do 1/100 of what that guy does in the video i will be happy.

This is one of THE best you can buy for a beginner, not the Shockflyer etc. WHy? This plane will not need a brushless to enjoy all the 3D you want, just get any 3S lipoly and she will give you very good vertical on the 9x5 prop. Go to the website and see what the owner's son can do with the plane! I would die to be able to do 0.1% of what he can do!

One warning, please use glass tape on the wing, I came down from a dive and pulled up hard, the carbon snapped, was my fault, so reinforce it a little.

Ya I finished mine flew it mine came with a brushless outrunner for $99can flys good, knife edge amazing but I think I like my furious more but I have only had 2 flights .

I got two ST yak-54 powered by stock brush motor for 3d flying practice,but both crashed on hard 3d flying!![&o]

Got a chance to take the yak out today for its maiden voyage. I think it may have been the shortest flight in history. She took a nose dive right after the hand lauch. I couldn't recover fast enough. The elevator seemed slugish, I am thinking maybe I had way to much forward CG. So out comes the glue and maybe we can try again tomorrow.

Plane is all put back together! When doing a runup I noticed a vibration that wasn't there before.. Upon further inspection I noticed the shaft coming out of the gear box is bent!! looks like i need to get a new motor. Looking around i didn't seem to find any stmodel versions. What would be a good 370 brushed motor to get. Looking for something with similar gear ratio and the same shaft mounting as the stock ST motor.. I don't really want to have to mount it any other way. If anyone has any recommends please let me know. Thanks

ST Model does sell the 370 motor, I think they are Mabuchi so the GWS 350 ones are the same. :)

I got 2 0f them gear box included, one is new the other is missing the gear of the motor. I'll sell you both if you want them.

I appreciate the offer.. I was able to hammer the shaft straight. No more Vibrations, and I ordered a new shaft for 4 bucks cdn.

How much are you asking. Might be interested just as a back up.

Will give that some thought.. Since i got the shart bent straight, I am not as hungry for a new motor. I assume its cdn dollars since you are in MB aswell??

Also for the ST Model Yak pilots where do you find the best CG.. are you happy with the 9.5-10.5 cm I found the nose heavy there.. maybe i just need larger throws..

Best way to test for CG is to go inverted and see how she flies, if you have to use DOWN elevator then she is NOSE heavy. Adjust according to what you like and as you get used to the plane you will usually want it more tail heavy.

Yes cdn dollars. my CG is at 9.5cm. I'm using AXI 2208-34 motor with APC 10x3.8 on TP 3s 900mah. the weight is 9.5 oz with battery.

I know you are Ken ... just wanted to confirm that your dad owns ST Models. :) Don't worry about your English, I am a Chinese born and bred and living in Malaysia, I can't even write my own name in Chinese or speak Mandarin. I am Hokkien. I can speak Hokkien. You fly really well. GOod to see that you can support your father's business by flying so well. After seeing your videos a long time ago my friends and I use to joke that you are forced to fly well, if you did not you will be in trouble! Hehehehe ...

Looking to take out my Yak today, just a quick questions about my repairs.. I just CA'd the broken pieces of the fuselage, and i am wondering if i should reinforce the breaks with something. Thanks in advanced.

Some things I was wondering, Is the stock motor that comes with the kit enough power for all out 3D how would a Hacker A20-22L Outrunner be on it and is it hard to fly in the wind, also is the foam strong or will it break easy with a crash? Thanks I am looking for a foamy to get in the winter to practise 3D cause I am to scared to do stuff low with a 28% but I dont want to spend a fourtune on a foamy.

The stock motor is fine for 3d, Lots of power. If you look at the videos on stmodels.com the plane in those videos is using the stock motor. As for strength, it is foam. So it won't survive a crash to well. I have broken mine a few times but was able to repair fairly quickly. Most repairs were due to fatigue of lots of landings (gear bends or rips out from fuse)
