An incredible new kind of ShockFlyer

After having already built two KatanaS from thehttp://membres.lycos.fr/piloteacl/logo3dfoamy.JPG’s plan:

i wanna show u my third one :

However this shock is a little different from those we are used to seeing on such forums. Besides it’s a control-line model. I guess it’s one of the first U-control Schock Flyer ever built. Letting u some pictures of the evelator control:

Handle and wire cable :

No electronic timer to switch off the motor. Just switch on before taking off and thanks to low-capacity NiCd Battery u can easily land when motor is losing its power. Don’t be affraid to put an important rudder flap angle so as to keep the plane out of the flying half sphere.

Eventually, even without the slightest knowledge about flying control line models, this one is so easy to fly that after a tiny minute u are able to do whatever u want whit it.

By clicking on the miniature u can see bigger pictures.

Technical conclusions:

Building: Depron 3mm + sheets of carboon tubes 3mm
Wingspan: 1,00m
Weight: 316 g
Motor: Speed 300 6V gearbox 1/5 (Mp Jet)
Airscrew: APC 10*4.7
Battery: 7elts 370 mAh NiCd
Wire cable: 2*12m kevlar fishing line or kite power line

Thus u can get an incredible flying model for less than 20$.

So let's try this new kind of experience and why not trying group flying ?!!!

WOW, you converted one of my mini Kantana's to a U control!! Never heard of that being done yet, good job!

Im curious,

Are you using a brushless motor in that thing, and if so how did you get the ESC to apply power without being hooked up to a reciever. Or is it just a battery plugged right into a brushed motor?

Pretty cool though. I would never have thought of making a U-control foamy.

1. Have you posted this in one of the Control Line forums? You ought to.

2. I'll bet harrier rolls are a kick.

3. If only Cox had taken a similar approach 40 years ago, instead of foisting those horrible hard plastic .049-powered fragmentation grenades on a whole generation of innocent kids.

4. BDavidson, I'll bet he's using a simple toggle switch and a brushed motor ... can't tell from the photos ... you'd need a helper to hit the switch and launch for you, basically the same as with a gas model. Anyway, it *is* cool!

Depron combat, anyone?? :D
