different prop?
if i change from a GWS to an APC prop of the same size, what will change? ie better performance, more amps, anythinhg else?

RE: different prop?
You will draw more amps because the prop is heavier but you may notice more power because the GWS props tend to flatten out more than the APC props.

RE: different prop?
If I remember right I gained about 300 rpm using the APC.

RE: different prop?
Just make sure your using the "ELECTRIC" APC props, and not the "GLOW/NITRO" props.
The APC props are far better than the GWS stuff. They have blade pitch designs that are more effecient, faster, less drag, etc. If your running a GWS, try to stay the around the same size and pitch with the APC stuff. If you have to increase length, decrease pitch. For example if running a 8x4 GWS, and you cant find a 8x4 APC try a 9x3.8 slowflyer APC. |
RE: different prop?
I changed from GWS props to APC slow fly props because when I pulled hard on the elevator or rudder I could hear the GWS props flexing, changing pitch. When I started using the APC props that noise almost completely went away and I gained a bit more power. Flight times remained about the same. I never have checked the RPM with my tach on my Eflite Ultimate, I just never really cared that much.
I always paint 1 of the tips on my props for safety and for balance and found that on the GWS props the paint would crack while flying due to the flexing. The APC props don't do that. |
