Cannot decide which plane
I am wanting to get into electric 3D flying. I am trying to decide on which plane to buy. I'm looking at the E-Flite Tensor, E-flite Ultimate, or the GP Reflection. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Cannot decide which plane
The reflection flies the best, but is brittle and will wind up in bits if you crash it good. If I were to do it all over again, I'd order a nice bundle of depron (I got mine from RCfoam.com, $20 for 10 sheets of 15x39!) and some carbon, get some plans somewhere of the internet, and build your own. This way if you crash you can build a new one for no additional cost. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Cannot decide which plane
Tensors are a bit tricky to fly becasue you must use the rudder.
Being from Tenn, why don't you go local and do a FoMoJo from BHRC. |
RE: Cannot decide which plane
What is a FoMOJO?

RE: Cannot decide which plane
I would do a F3A Shockflyer, or other shockflyers. I know it is not on your list, but I think you might be overlooking a great plane.

RE: Cannot decide which plane
the Blade EPP is very,,,,,,, good and hard to destroy.
just MOHO regards piroflip |
RE: Cannot decide which plane
ya i would say a shocky such as the superstar or f3a, but since the eflite ultimate is on your list, i currently am flying it now, and isnt too bad of a plane, and if your considering the gp reflection, you could cut your own "mini" reflection with the plans that bill made and according to them (im soon building one) it flies even better then the reflection (plans are floatin around on here, or ask and i can give them to you)

RE: Cannot decide which plane
I'm tired of destroying these foam planes all the time so I bought a Extra stiffy. I do all of my manuvers down low in front of my home. The depron planes do not like the street at all. My garage is a foamy graveyard!

RE: Cannot decide which plane
Check out the the "Leading Edge" from www.rcskydiving.com. They are a very durable plane and they fly great.

LEAR25GUY:
Suggest you try one of the rcxplanes.com such as the Illusion, Extra 330L or Ailure. The first two mentioned are 6mm depron and very tough. The best part is the way they fly. Thats all I have been flying for the past 7 months. Follow their recommendatins and you will have a cost effective great system and one durable great flying plane. If you don't like it you can get yhour money back! Try that elsewhere. |
RE: Cannot decide which plane
I'd look at the E-flite Ultmate FX 3D.

ORIGINAL: Lear25guy What is a FoMOJO? http://www.billyhellrc.com/fomojo.html Some of the best flying and hard core planes out are not sold via the main stream places and for the most part, the only way you find the stuff is online. I luv RCU. |
RE: Cannot decide which plane
i would not recommend the ultimate fx for your first electric even though you might have been in modeling for awhile it takes some electric know how to make it fly how you think it should, i think the tensor would be the best choice from your list, i have heard that some people have had trouble with bank turns but ive had one and it flew great, it tracks well, although it is fragile, the flatouts i think are a mistake to people who truly want a 3d airplane, the ikarus line of shock flyers is great with the yak 54 being a favorite among pros and the extra being classic and has been competition proven i think you would be most happy with one of those, any foamie can fly well as long as you have gained enough info on why they dont fly well so you can fix the problem in building.
