WHICH FLATOUT??
 

I've decided to get a Great Planes Flatout, but my problem is deciding which one to get. I will set it up with the rimfire brushless motor, and will fly primarily outside at home (out in the country). Right now I'm leaning toward the CAP 580, the Extra 300S, the Edge 540, and the Turmoil. Which one flys best for everyday aerobatics? This will be my first foamy, so I would appreciate any assistance.

Don't go with the cap if u r going to fly out side. I had the cap and with a little wind the wing would bend and thow u off. I am building the turmoil right now and it seems to be a more sturdy airframe, But I am going to re enforce the landing gear.

I have the Turmoil and I love the way it flies. I'd stay away from the Cap and the Extra just because the wing is not supported by the horziontal piece of foam that runs though the plane. The Turmoil, Edge, and Flatana are all good ones to look at.

The Turmoil is the better flying of those two. SFGs rock.

I have had many foamies and Great Planes make some really nice ones.
Out of the ones they have that I have flown I really was impreased with
the edge 540. It has a higher wing loading then the turmoil but it flyes
more like the real edge. It does a really cool knife edge spins straight down.
The edge will do a square knife edge loop so knife edges very well without the SFGs!
Liked it so much I got one more just for a back up.

if there is any plane that should go in the trash can is the flat outs other than the reflection, they do fly well with perfect setups and conditions but i would say that many others fly alot better, the best out of the box easy setup you could go with is anything from ikarus they are performance and competition proven planes. the favorite among the pros seems to be the yak 54 which is also my favorite. use an axi and 2 cell or 3 cell for outdoors, even though this plane is about 8-9 oz if on the heavy side it still handels wind like a bigger plane.

If you really want a flatout...the reflection is by far the best of the bunch. Take your time building it, test fit EVERYTHING, and build it straight and square.
The rolling circles are fantastic, and it hovers REALLY well.

Ok, thanks for the input. I have decided to get the Turmoil to learn on and then move on up the the Reflection when I'm ready or the Turmoil is beat. Thanks again.
